Duval County Warrant RecordsDuval County Warrant Records

If a city ticket or ordinance case in Duval County has gone unpaid, the municipal court holding that case is where to start. San Diego, Freer, and Benavides each run their own court, so one town's payment page cannot answer for another's cases. Start with the city clerk. The clerk can explain which process applies and what formal step actually changes the record, so check which city named the case before anything else. The Duval County Sheriff's Department serves as a county contact when officers are involved, but it is not a substitute for the municipal clerk. Ask the clerk what to do next.

How Municipal Court Warrants Work

Duval County's city courts handle ordinance violations and Class C traffic cases. Miss a setting or leave a judgment unpaid, and Texas law lets the judge issue a failure-to-appear arrest warrant or a capias pro fine. The case file stays in that court. The court decides whether payment, an appearance, a hearing, or a recall request fits the case. Service runs through local officers. A municipal peace officer or marshal serves city papers, while the Duval County sheriff or another officer may handle county work. No single warrant index spans these city courts. The sheriff's public contact page carries no active warrant list at all. A city case may not appear there. Start with the municipal clerk instead of assuming a county page covers each city's docket.

San Diego Municipal Courts Across Duval County

Three Duval County cities list their own municipal-court contacts. Population counts come from the Census Bureau's 2020 incorporated-place figures. They are separate city courts, not branches of one county municipal system.

Duval County Municipal Warrant Checks

Check every route tied to the city case. Ask the Duval County municipal clerk whether the citation carries an FTA, arrest warrant, or capias pro fine entry. A payment or citation page works only as a tool for that city's own case record. If a search returns nothing, call the court. A written Texas Public Information Act request may seek existing city or police records. The court may follow its own judicial-record process.

  1. Read the citation for the city and court name.
  2. Try the city court's linked citation or payment page, if one is published.
  3. Call the clerk to confirm current warrant status and appearance requirements.
  4. Ask the police department or sheriff only about records or service held by that office.
  5. Request existing records in writing if the office cannot confirm them informally.

The countywide Duval County traffic warrant information page maps the separate JP and municipal routes for traffic cases.

San Diego's nCourt Page Is for Payment

San Diego Municipal Court pairs a city page with a linked nCourt route. The payment interface shows a citation-number call-log field, the court address, a phone, and a phone-payment path. The court posts no public warrant roster. No warrant filter, list cadence, or completeness statement appears either. A citation result is not an active-warrant answer. For Duval County city matters, call the court at (361) 279-3341 and ask whether a citation produced an FTA or capias pro fine and what counts as an appearance. The separate San Diego warrant page digs into that city's court and police contacts.

What a Duval City Court Warrant Shows

A warrant entry can carry a citation, the court, an ordinance or traffic charge, a setting date, and an FTA or capias notation. The Duval County cities publish no sample warrant entry. No shared display format or warrant-number pattern is confirmed. Ask the clerk to read the actual case entry and explain where it stands today.

Freer Court's Published Resolution Menu

Freer Municipal Court posts Duval County's clearest menu of options. An online citation lookup sits beside instructions for full payment, a 30-day extension, payment plans, ability-to-pay review, community service, jail credit, a not-guilty response, a driver-safety course, and deferred disposition. One rule comes first. A payment plan must be approved before any partial payment. Paying in full by card or check carries a guilty or no-contest plea and a judgment of guilt, Freer warns. Cash is not accepted. The Reply Form handles formal requests. A phone call does not count as an appearance. Ask the Duval County court whether a warrant has already issued before choosing an option.

Duval Municipal Warrants and Sheriff Contacts

The sheriff's website posts no online active-warrant roster. The city police departments in Duval County publish none either. So a municipal warrant can sit in the city court's file while no county page shows a match. The city clerk controls that case status. The sheriff handles county service questions, not the court's records.

A blank sheriff page does not establish that a city warrant is absent. Call the municipal court named on the ticket and ask about the court's own file.

For general Duval County records, the Sheriff's Department lists administration at (361) 279-6209. Dispatch, (361) 279-3351, is not labeled as a warrant line.

Benavides Court Contacts Need Verification

Benavides keeps a municipal-court page, but it offers no public lookup or payment form. Two phone numbers float around. The city page lists (361) 256-3283. The Texas Office of Court Administration directory gives (361) 256-3321 and a court email. Call to confirm which number now reaches the clerk. Do that before sending money or trusting an old directory entry. JP3 sits elsewhere in Duval County, at the Benavides Civic Center, 131 W. Main, phone (361) 256-3982. A county precinct citation belongs there. A city case belongs with the municipal clerk. That split matters when one town name shows up on papers from two different courts.

Duval City-Court Capias Pro Fine

Texas calls the fine-collection writ that follows a judgment a capias pro fine. Chapter 45A gives judges tools besides collection. It allows a hardship hearing, and in specified circumstances a good-faith voluntary appearance can trigger recall of the writ. A vendor payment page cannot make that call. Only the court can decide whether the statutory conditions fit a case. Ask the Duval County municipal clerk what judgment is on file and whether a hearing, payment plan, community service, or appearance is open to you. Keep two questions apart here: the fine and the warrant. In Freer, full payment results in a judgment of guilt, so San Diego and Benavides residents should ask their own clerk how that court records a resolution.

Duval City Warrants and Texas Access Rules

Duval County records access runs through the Texas Public Information Act. You can send a written request for existing city or police records. Some exceptions apply. Court records may follow a separate judicial access procedure instead. Juvenile warrant materials stay restricted, and a law-enforcement exception can shield certain files. The office holding the record can tell you which request method it accepts and what may be withheld.

Public access:

Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, covers existing public information held by governmental bodies.

Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 45A, governs justice and municipal court warrant and capias pro fine procedures.

Family Code Chapter 58, restricts children's arrest warrant records.

Duval County City-Court Warrant Clearance

Once the court approves a payment, reset, motion, or voluntary appearance, get it in writing. Ask whether the docket was updated. Also confirm that notice went to any officer, sheriff, or state reporting system. DPS warns that an FTA/FTP record can take time to clear after the court reports a resolution. So keep your receipt and any signed order. One caution: a paid citation does not necessarily close a warrant or case. For a Freer matter, follow that court's form and appearance rules. In San Diego or Benavides, get instructions from the current clerk rather than applying another city's process to your Duval County warrant.
